July 21

Since I enjoyed the island of Roatan so much, I think I will head to another island.  So there's your first clue, I am heading to an island nation.

This country is just smaller than the state of Connecticut, 4, 411 square miles.  The island is 146 miles long and between 22 and 51 miles across.  This makes it the 3rd largest island in the Caribbean.

Orchids grow wild all over this island—200 species of them, 73 of which are found nowhere else. There are also 500 species of fern and 1,000 species of trees.

The national bird is the Doctor-Bird (Trochilus Polytmus) or Swallow-Tail Hummingbird.
Arawak Indians, the original inhabitants of this island, were exterminated by the Spanish.
