August 2

Today I made it home to Bellevue, Nebraska!

I had a wonderful time traveling all over the United States and to many countries around the world!  A very special "Thank You" to all those who let me "tag along" with them!  I hope you have enjoyed learning about so many different places!  I sure have!

My travels are not completely over...yet!  I will be home for a few weeks, but I have been invited to go to a few other places...so I will post clues and pictures sporadically over the next few months.  Hope you will check back periodically.  If you choose to "follow" the blog you will get an e-mail when there is another post.

Hope the rest of your summer is great!!  Stop by the library and say "Hi" sometime!

July 29

Well, I began my travels heading west, so now I am going to end my travels going west.  (Wow, I've been all around the world!)  I have one more stop to make before arriving back home in Bellevue, Nebraska!

So clue #1 is I am heading west from Ohio

There are some famous people born in this state:
The 31st president of the United States

This film and television actress had a TV show named after her!

This famous baseball player was born in this state in 1918.  He played for the Cleveland Indians and was nicknamed "Bullet Bob".

The American Film Institute named this actor #13 among the Greatest Male Actors of All Time.  He was born in the state I am visiting.

This state's flag resembles the flag of France
Two more clues for you...

This is the only state whose east and west borders are 100% formed by water.
This is the only state name that starts with two vowels.

Today I have been in the great state of Ohio!  I visited the city of Canton, which is home to

In fact...that is exactly where I visited!

Here I am in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Every year people from every state come to visit the Hall of Fame to remember the men who made professional football America's most popular sport. It opened in 1963 located in Canton because this is where the American Professional Football Association was founded and also because of the early day professional football champions the Canton Bulldogs. Inside the museum are so many wonderful things. To name a few; I saw bronze statues, historic to modern day football uniforms, and wonderful legendary Superbowl pictures. I also learned some amazing football history. Each summer they have a ten day Hall of Fame festival to celebrate the enshrinement ceremony and the first preseason game. I missed this year's but may try to come back next year to join in the fun.

July 27

I am heading north-east now...about 800 miles.  I'll travel on Interstate 70 most of the way.

This state was the "first" of many modern inventions
  • The first ambulance service
  • The first hot dog
  • The first traffic light
  • The first cash register
  • The first professional baseball team
  • The first police cars
The state's quarter's inscription reads "Birthplace of Aviation Pioneers." One of the first men to fly, Orville Wright, was born in here.

The first American to orbit the earth, John Glenn, was born in here.

The first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong was born in here.

This is the only American state flag that is not a rectangle.

Where in the US is Flat Tammy?

Well, did you guess that I am now in "The Show Me" State?  Otherwise known as Missouri, our neighbor to the south-east.

I was able to visit a huge tourist town--Branson. In fact, Branson placed number three on the Top 10 Destinations list.

The population of the town is just 7,000 but there are more than 100,000 motel rooms, restaurant seats and theater seats!

Nearly 8 million people visit Branson every year!  Why do people visit Branson?  I'll show you...

This is The Hollywood Wax Museum!

So many great attractions!  I had a fantastic time!

July 25

I had a wonderful weekend in Jamaica!  This morning I jumped on a plane to head back to the United States (first clue--hint, hint, hint)!

The flag has a red, white, and blue background.

A president of the United States was born here.

The state's musical instrument is a fiddle.

It is bordered by 8 other states.

It is also the birthplace of this man...
This is not Albert Einstein.  He is the famous author of the book Tom Sawyer.
